The Shear Comfort® Cushion-It™

The Shear Comfort® Cushion-It™ is a medical sheepskin cushion that provides that extra pressure care and comfort for standard seating and back products in wheelchairs.

The Cushion-It™:

• can be used directly on a seat or back of a wheelchair.
• can be placed over standard foam cushions to increase pressure care and reduce skin moisture.
• absorbs perspiration and removes the stickiness associated with sitting on plastic coated surfaces.
• prevents draughts through the backs of chairs.

Each Cushion-It™ comes with velcro straps to hold the Cushion-It™ in place around cushions or wheelchair canvasses. ‘One size fits all’. The Cushion-It™ will enhance seats and cushions up to 50cm wide or 50cm deep, and add a new level of comfort and protection to the user.

Place the Cushion-It on the chair as a comfort aid and pressure relieving device. Sit the person directly on the wool. Attach the straps together under the chair to keep the Cushion-It securely in place. Can be used on top of any additional seating- canvas, foam or leather.

Use two: one on the back, the other on the seat.

The science has been done. Below you can see the pressure measurements made when a 90kg male sat on a regular wheelchair seat and then on the same seat covered with a Cushion-It. You will notice that the high pressure areas( red yellow and green) in the centre of the graphic have been significantly reduced by the Cushion-It . They really do reduce pressure!
